# AI for PLC programming with Studio 5000

> How to use an AI agent on a Studio 5000 Logix project without pasting code into a chat, with answers that cite rungs and changes you review as ladder.

Pasting a rung into a chat window gives an AI model one rung and no context. A Logix project has thousands of tags, many programs, Add-On Instructions and UDTs, and the answer to most questions is spread across them.

Orbis puts the AI agent next to the whole project instead.

## How it works

1. **Open the project.** Orbis reads your `.L5X` or `.ACD` file on your PC. See [Open a project](https://orbiscontrols.com/docs/open-a-project).
2. **Ask in plain words.** The agent reads the real project with Orbis tools and answers with the rungs and tags it used, drawn as ladder. See [Ask the agent](https://orbiscontrols.com/docs/ask-the-agent).
3. **Let it edit a working copy.** The agent changes a copy, never your file. You can make the same kind of edit by hand.
4. **Review before it goes back.** Every change shows as ladder, rung by rung, next to the original, with Revert and Mark reviewed. See [Review changes](https://orbiscontrols.com/docs/review-changes).
5. **Export to Studio 5000.**

## Why the review step matters

An AI agent can be wrong. Orbis does not ask you to trust it: each answer points to the rungs it came from, and each edit is a diff you read the way you read a Studio 5000 Compare report.

## Your agent, your account

Orbis runs Claude Code or Codex, signed in with your own account. Read [Install Orbis](https://orbiscontrols.com/docs/install) to start.
